Cowboy Party

Saturday we celebrated Bubby turning two with a very simple cowboy/horse theme. It was easy to decide on a horse theme because he is in love with all things horses. For the past few months he has turned everything into a stick horse from a coat hanger to a kitchen spoon and rides it around the house in the best little gallop you've ever seen. We rented out the local carousel in town, made my favorite carrot cake into cupcakes, poured goldfish into a turned over cowboy hat and served fruit on a stick. It was perfect for this 7 months pregnant Mama.

It was at this point that we lost him.

I loved everything about this day that we celebrated for him and I'm so thankful for the friends and family that came out to celebrate with us. I know he felt special!

Making things simple is what allows me to enjoy occasions like this.  I absolutely love cute parties with everything that matches and goes with a theme but it's not my gift. Party planning or managing many projects at once is not a talent of mine and knowing that about myself has changed the way I approach these occasions. I want to keep the focus on them and not on my stress level. If party planning is not your thing then don't worry about all of those details that can get overwhelming. Don't wear yourself out Mama's.....they know they are loved and the day will go best when you don't overload yourself.

  7. What a fun day! I'll tell you this- in my 9 years of being a mama- they don't care what the party "looks" like! They just want to eat cake and have fun. What a relief!
