How to Get Most out of the Playroom Opportunities

The brand-new climbing triangle helps develop motor skills and a sense of balance in young children. Hungarian pediatrician Emmy Pikler initially developed this play equipment to support the development of freedom of movement in children. The Pikler triangle only became popular when Pikler's pedagogy was increasingly reflected in playgroups for toddlers.

Dining Room Makeover

We aren't quite finished with the dining room but I just couldn't wait any longer to share it with you! We have one long shelf to install at the bottom and then it is done. We are both so in love with this new space and are reminded how filling a space with the things that speak to you can totally change the way the entire room feels. While I loved the plate collection that was there before it just didn't do the wall justice. Now we not only have a place to display some of our favorite finds we will also have room for a little school storage.

Barn House DIY

I'm blowing the dust off the old blog because I just have to share a fun diy I recently finished. You see we have had this doll house for several years and as cute as it was it just wasn't getting the use that it needed to justify the space it took up. So it sat in the garage until I could find someone who wanted it. It sat and sat. All the while each and every day the kids played barnyard animals for hours on end. I had a light bulb moment to turn that cute dollhouse into a barn!

I didn't take many pictures of the step by step process but in a nutshell I removed the door from the house and took it to Home Depot to get a piece of wood the same thickness cut to fit the size of the existing door. I then found thin trim pieces and cut them into the barnyard X. I found some cabinet hardware for the front hinges and a pull and put it all together! Because I was using a hand saw for the trim pieces it didn't match up perfectly, with a little putty and paint you would never know! On the inside I used mod podge and scrapbook paper sheets of dirt, straw hay and green grass for the different levels and barn siding scrapbook paper for the walls.

This was his big birthday surprise that was setup in his newly decorated room. He loved it all, but when I asked him what his favorite part was....he said, his cow knobs on his dresser. lol

Hallway Bathroom {Before and After}

 And two months later ............I bring you the hallway bathroom reveal! This is the kids bathroom and is located in the hallway right next to their bedrooms. This bathroom was full of tile, tile and more tile. We took it all out and replaced it with shiplap walls and subway tile for the shower/tub area. We replaced the vanity area with a farm table and double sinks with exposed pipes underneath. For some reason the true tone of the wood table looks orange/red in the pictures when it's more of a walnut stain. We used a white penny tile for the floors and that would be the only thing I would not use again. As much as I like the look it's very slippery.
