June/July part 1

We have had a very laid back summer and have only been on two out of town outings since having our Junebug and I have been just fine with that. I love how this season of having a newborn has caused us to slow down and I look forward to slowly easing back into more outings and our new routine. Here is a little glimpse into our days.

Lots of cuddles with Daddy! Have I mentioned how wonderful it is to have him around all summer? I really don't know what I would have done without him this past month at home and I'm not ready for him to go back to work next week:(

Tummy time

Indoor activities that make a huge mess, get scattered all over the house and entertain them for roughly 5-10 minutes until they move onto the next thing.

Lots of "I hold baby!"

Outing #1 to the drive in movie theatre. Mom and Dad didn't get to watch the movie but I hope the kiddos had a good time and made a special memory. That's what it's all about, right? We have learned to go into these situations knowing it's for the kiddos and not to have too many expectations for our own pleasure. I will be honest, this is not always easy and sometimes I think it's reasonable to want to enjoy our outings and not just be a servant but more often than not I find that this stage is about serving, modeling and guiding and that takes a lot of time and attention and doesn't always allow for Mom and Dad to take time off. There will be a day that this won't always be. There will be a day that we will see the fruits of what we are pouring into them. I look forward to those fruits of labor.

This sweet girl loves to crash in his arms.

Lots of baby wearing.

With a newborn and 100+ temps there has been more movie watching than I prefer but I'm trying not to stress over it.

Lots of sleeping baby watching. I could watch this sweet sleeping baby all day long.

  1. So lovely and laid back. I hear you about the drive-in, it was that way for us this year with fireworks and our nephews in tow. Oh well, this is a season of life. Thanks for sharing!
