Mitchelswood lies to the west of Newick village in the heart of Mid Sussex. The owner, Seona Lightfoot has lived at Mitchelswood for nearly 30 years and all her four children are, or have been involved with the equestrian side at some point.

Riding Instructors are selected for their ability to relate to children as well as their qualifications. Yard staff enjoy working with enthusiastic girls and friendly parents.

Many of the 700 or so clients that visit Mitchelswood every week come for more than one activity, often starting as babies learning to swim, maybe ballet and trying out horse riding. Both riding and ballet are dominated by girls, but boys are welcome and often make bold and well balanced riders if they persevere.
